Summary

An alternate cover edition for this ISBN can be found here。

Last year, all of Belly’s dreams came true and the thought of missing a summer in Cousins Beach was inconceivable。 But like the rise and fall of the ocean tide, things can change-- just like that。 Suddenly the time she's always looked forward to most is something she dreads。 And when Jeremiah calls to say Conrad has disappeared, Belly must decide how she will spend this summer: chasing after the boy she loves, or finally letting him go。

i actually liked the sequel better。 at first i wish it followed immediately after the summer but when they went to get conrad i’m glad it had an actual plot。 i wish there was more about conrad。 i wish we knew what went on in his head instead or jeremiah’s。 there’s a lot of layers that can be pulled back in his character but also a lot of room for growth。

"There are moments in life that you wish with all your heart you could take back。 Like, just erase from existence。 Like, if you could, you'd erase yourself right out of existence too, just to make that moment not exist。"this was definitely on the more emotional route dealing with themes of grief and how each character in the book had their own ways and methods on how to deal with it。 it just took me by surprise how the book started at that and then i could feel the tears coming down。 it made "There are moments in life that you wish with all your heart you could take back。 Like, just erase from existence。 Like, if you could, you'd erase yourself right out of existence too, just to make that moment not exist。"this was definitely on the more emotional route dealing with themes of grief and how each character in the book had their own ways and methods on how to deal with it。 it just took me by surprise how the book started at that and then i could feel the tears coming down。 it made me remember when i lost someone near and dear to my heart in the family just last year due to the virus。 we all had different coping mechanisms in the family on how to deal with grief and it's definitely not something that you can just move on from in a snap。 showing those moments of how the characters dealt with grief felt so real because it is never really easy to lose someone in your life。 i feel like that's a wonderful message to readers on how it is okay to take your time in dealing with it and to not force yourself just because others try to convince you that you should move on already by now。 one reason why i could not give this a perfect 5/5 stars is because there were times that i just really felt irritated and frustrated with Belly and her actions especially at the beginning。 like there was this one line she said that really irked me to the core because it was super low and not appropriate to say at the time。 but then, i try to understand her pov because she was also struggling with other things in her life & she's young。 the Jeremiah chapters definitely made me giggle and its painful reading about him looking at Belly with so much love & being there for her all the time then seeing Belly swoon more & more for Conrad。 its also painful for me to see so much misunderstanding and unsaid words esp with Conrad who always decides to go silent regarding things。 love triangle is brewing and i'm honestly nervous for who Belly will choose in Book 3 (pls choose yourself over the boys hahaha)。 overall, i really loved the story and themes that were presented in Book 2 vs Book 1, like i felt it had more substance and depth! 。。。more

3。75 ⭐️i preferred the first novel but this one was good too, i just found some of the characters problematic and irritating but understandable because they are people after all。i’m looking forward to reading the last novel of this series

Heather

Similar thoughts to the last book really; liked it but didn’t love it。 Again, the plot is pretty basic and nothing unpredictable really happens。 However, I still enjoyed watching the characters’ relationships develop and am looking forward to the final instalment。
